Scientific Collections

Doñana’s Scientific Collections is a biodiversity monitoring service of the ICTS-RBD available to scientists worldwide for use in the study of animal systematics, zoogeography, ecology and genetics.

It focuses primarily on vertebrates’ specimens, naturalized or conserved in liquid, of fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals from the Iberian Peninsula, Africa and South America.

The collection includes approx.:

-8.000 fish specimens belonging to ca. 300 different species.

- 22.000 reptile specimens belonging to ca. 450 species.

-15.000 amphibian specimens belonging to ca. 150 species.

- 21.500 bird specimens belonging to ca. 1,600 species.

- 30.000 mammal specimens belonging to ca. 1,200 species.
