From 28 to 30 November 2018, the VII International Conference on Black Stork took place at headquarters of ICTS-RBD in Doñana National Park, a protected area in the marshes of the Guadalquivir river, probably the most important overwintering area for the species in Europe.
It was organizated by the IUCN-SSC Stork, Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group, the Doñana Biological Station (EBD-CSIC) and Junta de Andalucía (Regional Goverment of Andalusia).
More than 30 researchers and specialist from 14 countiues were registered and the main interest of the conference was to gather specialist of the species to present the most updated information of the species, most recent researches and strengthen the network and collaboration among specialist.
The 32 talks and posters were organized into 4 sessions:
Session 1: Black Storck Population and Trends
Session 2: Threatens and Conservation of Black Stork
Session 3: Ecology and Behaviour of Black Stork
Session 4: Movements, Tracking, Ringing & Migration
Moreover, the program had a special session to discuss about the future of the international working group and a field trip to observe the wintering population of the species at Guadalquivir marhes.
