Is restocking a useful tool for increasing rabbit densities?

The Population of European rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus have declined due to several factors including habitat transformation and viral diseases. At the same time, corrective measures including population restocking in areas with low population densities using rabbits from other geographical areas have been performed. As part of the natural processes monitoring program carried out in the Doñana Biological Station (ESPN-EBD-CSIC), rabbit censuses were conducted

Erradication of invasive plants from RBD-ICTS.

In March, volunteers from Adena / WWF have offered us their invaluable help to eliminate the invasive plant Oxalis pes-caprae, native from South Africa, from several sites of the Biological Reserve of Doñana (RBD-ICTS). This plant is included in the Spanish catalog of invasive species

VII International Conference on Black Stork (Ciconia nigra) in Doñana

From 28 to 30 November 2018, the VII International Conference on Black Stork took place at headquarters of ICTS-RBD in Doñana National Park, a protected area in the marshes of the Guadalquivir river, probably the most important overwintering area for the species in Europe.

First observation of a breeding couple of Nile Gesse in Doñana.

Last July 17th 2018, EBD's Doñana Monitoring Team observed a couple of Nile Geese (Alopochen aegyptiaca) rearing five chicks at the Doñana marshes. This was the first observation of a breeding couple of this invasive species at the Doñana marshes.

Upstream migration of goldfish

As the spring progresses and Doñana’s temporary wetlands progressively dry up, many fish species migrate upstream and downstream - seeking refuge in permanent waters to survive the summer drought.

Start a project

If you plan to do research in Doñana, you must bear in mind that your project must be approved by the Research Access Commission of the Doñana Participation Council. The ICTS-RBD provides assistance throughout the procedure. Read more

Request access, accommodation and/or technical and logistic support

Once your research project has been approved by ICTS-RBD, you can request access and accomodation in the Biological Reserve using this online form and/or logistic or technical support using this online form . Do not forget to read carefully the facilities’ use rules. Read more

Request biodiversity data

Raw data requests are made via the following application . In addition, it is possible to visualize ICTS-RBD biodiversity monitoring data at the Data Infrastructure and access essential ecosystem indicators at the Global Change Observatory
