Doñana’s Singular Scientific-Technical Infrastructure (ICTS-RBD) provides access and support to carry out research at the Doñana Protected Areas.

For such purpose, it provides researchers with accomodation, various facilities and technical/logistical support. It also runs monitoring programs to assess the status and trends of biodiversity, provides online access to all the information gathered by these monitoring programs and delivers ICT service management and tools to facilitate the search and use of that information.

2021 was a dry year, yet Doñana wetlands hosted abundant and diverse aquatic communities

Last April-May, the Long-Term Biodiversity Monitoring Group (ICTS-RBD) carried out the annual spring survey of Doñana’s wetlands (Photo: part of the components of the Group, from left to right, Rocío Fernández Zamudio, Miguel A. Bravo, Isidro Román and Rosa Arribas). This survey, which started in 2004, collects information on the hydrology, water quality and aquatic biota: (plants, invertebrates, fish and amphibians) in a network of sampling stations distributed over Doñana’s marshland,...

Monitoring campaing of population structure in pond turtles at Doñana Natural Area

During the last days, technicians from Doñana's Biodiversity Monitoring Group (ICTS-RBD) are performing a monitoring program of the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) and the Spanish pond turtle (Mauremys leprosa) in Doñana Natural Area. In this occasion, the survey is taking place in the pine forest of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in Cádiz (see Photo).

The Lepidoptera Cyaniris semiargus flies in May in Doñana

Cyaniris semiargus is a small lepidopteran from the Lycaenidae family that reaches in Doñana its southernmost distribution limit. At this latitude, besides Doñana, it its only observed at higher altitudes in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Long-term determinants of the seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in a wild ungulate community of Doñana

The ICTS-EBD participated with several international and national scientific institutions in a study lead by Instituto de Recursos Cinegéticos (IREC) about the long-term deteterminants of the seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in the wild ungulate community in Doñana (Photo of fallow-deers in Doñana, by Rubén Rodríguez-Olivares).

Researchers from the Miguel Hernández University study the effects of Greek tortoise hybridization in Doñana

Last February, the Long-Term Monitoring Team (ESPN) of Doñana’s Singular Scientific-Technical Infrastructure (ICTS-RBD) provided support to a research project that studies the hybridation between the two subspecies of the Greek tortoise found in Doñana, Testudo graeca graeca and T. g. marokensis (Photo by Isidro Román). Technicians of ESPN supported the research project’s team during an intensive survey of tortoise individuals at El Puntal Estate, in the heart of Doñana’s National Park. The...

Start a project

If you plan to do research in Doñana, you must bear in mind that your project must be approved by the Research Access Commission of the Doñana Participation Council. The ICTS-RBD provides assistance throughout the procedure. Read more

Request access, accommodation and/or technical and logistic support

Once your research project has been approved by ICTS-RBD, you can request access and accomodation in the Biological Reserve using this online form and/or logistic or technical support using this online form . Do not forget to read carefully the facilities’ use rules. Read more

Request biodiversity data

You can visualize ICTS-RBD’s biodiversity monitoring data at the Data Infrastructure and consult essential ecosystem indicators derived from them at the Global Change Observatory. Raw data are offered free of charge to competitive research projects, subject to the following terms and conditions of use included in this data-request form.
