Beginning of the 2020 Manecorro ringing campaign

September 2020

Despite the uncertainty and inconveniences caused by the coronavirus pandemic, on September 1, scientific bird ringing activities began at the Manecorro constant effort station, located in the Doñana National Park, and which It will end on November 15.

Unfortunately, this year we have not been able to count on the presence of external ringers and personnel in training from many places in Spain and even Europe who usually collaborated in an invaluable way in carrying out the campaign.

This campaign has been carried out by the Natural Processes Monitoring Team since 1994 and since then, it has developed its activity in all seasons during the post-nuptial migration of passerines and associated groups, having made until now more than 85,000 captures of more than 120 different species. Due to this, an important effort has been made so that the campaign could be carried out this year and be able to continue the data series, one of the longest in Europe.
