Doñana’s Singular Scientific-Technical Infrastructure (ICTS-RBD) provides access and support to carry out research at the Doñana Protected Areas.

For such purpose, it provides researchers with accomodation, various facilities and technical/logistical support. It also runs monitoring programs to assess the status and trends of biodiversity, provides online access to all the information gathered by these monitoring programs and delivers ICT service management and tools to facilitate the search and use of that information.

Doñana Biological Station (EBD) will improve energy efficiency and the e-labs of the ICTS-Doñana Biological Reserve (RBD)

Doñana Biological Station, belonging to Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), will improve energy efficiency and the e-labs of the ICTS-Doñana Biological Reserve (RBD) with European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) co-financing

Great Cnidarian sighting on the beach of Doñana National Park.

The last month of March in a routine work by the Monitoring Team of Natural Processes, we observed the arrival of a large number of cnidarians: Portuguese Man-of-war (Physalia physallis), and by the Win Sailor (Velella velella), these species covered large beach surfaces.

Record of wintering White-Headed ducks and Slender-Billed gulls in the Guadalquivir Marshes

Over the last twenty years, the Natural Processes Monitoring Team (ICTS-RBD) of the Doñana Biological Station carried out the mid-January census of wintering birds in the Guadalquivir Marshes (Doñana Natural Space, adjacent non-protected areas and Brazo del Este Natural Site).
The total number of birds counted has been much more modest than last year, 491,552 compared to 674,974 at the time (see previous news, 6 news), which was the highest number in the last 15 years. However, two...

First International Workshop on Glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) held in Doñana

The first International Workshop on Glossy ibis has been organized by the Estación Biológica de Doñana (EBD) under the auspices of the IUCN Stork Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group (IUCN SIS SG) and in collaboration with the Tour du Valat (TdV), which has provided funding and organizational support. From 27th to 29th November 30 researchers and technicians proceeding from 14 different countries have met at Reserva Biologica de Doñana. The 21 talks in the workshop have provided updated and...

Insecticides in wild bird eggs

Recent studies demonstrated that the common pyrethroid insecticides are present in aquatic biota tissues. In this study, 123 samples of unhatched eggs of 16 wild bird species collected from 2010 to 2012 in Doñana National and Natural Park were analysed to determine 13 pyrethroids.

Start a project

Permission to undertake scientific research at Doñana is granted on competitive basis, based on the scientific relevance, applicability to its conservation and management, and potential impact on its wildlife and ecosystems. To submit an application, you should download and fill this form (is Spanish) and submit it to: coordinacion@ebd.csic.es. Read more

Request access, accommodation and/or technical and logistic support

Once your research project has been approved by ICTS-RBD, you can request access and accomodation in the Biological Reserve using this online form and/or logistic or technical support using this online form . Do not forget to read carefully the facilities’ use rules. Read more

Request biodiversity data

You can visualize ICTS-RBD’s biodiversity monitoring data at the Data Infrastructure and consult essential ecosystem indicators derived from them at the Global Change Observatory. Raw data are offered free of charge to competitive research projects, subject to the following terms and conditions of use included in this data-request form.
